Don’t Waste Your Money on a Masters in Data Science!
Calling all aspiring Data Scientists! I urge you not to enroll in a masters degree in Data Science. Here are my reasons why:
The Degrees are not tried and tested
The demand for data science has been rapidly increasing in recent years which has caused universities to start creating their own degrees to fill in the gap.
These degrees, while convenient though offering students a direct pathway into the field suffer from the issue that the subject are relatively foreign to the universities and that the definition of data science is something that differs widely depending on who you are asking.
This makes the courses feel like they were mashed together last minute with no real thought or effort put in behind them. You also get a lot of pre-recorded online-only content rather than the traditional university in-person experience.
Self Learning is an important part of being a Data Scientist
